5 Questions to Ask a Hacienda Heights HVAC Installer
1) Do you provide true 24/7 emergency support after the install?
Even a great system can have a hiccup on a weekend or holiday. Make sure the company offers round-the-clock help and prioritizes existing customers. Ask how to reach on-call techs, typical response times, and whether emergency labor rates are posted upfront. If they installed it, they should be ready to support it.

2) Are you licensed, insured, and certified for the equipment you’re installing?
In California, your contractor must hold an active C-20 (HVAC) license and carry both general liability and workers’ comp. Don’t take their word for it—verify:

Look beyond star ratings. Read recent comments on Google/Yelp for:
- Quality of workmanship (neat duct connections, sealed plenums, clean electrical)
- Permit handling and final inspection/HERS pass rates
- How they resolve issues (callbacks, warranty claims, communication)
Search reviews for keywords that match your home (attic install, condo, older ducts, heat pump conversion, etc.).
4) Do you specialize in the system I actually need?
Every home is different. If you’re considering a heat pump, high-efficiency furnace, or a variable-speed AC, ask for two recent local installs with the same type of system and similar home constraints (attic/crawl, panel size, duct condition). A good contractor will explain why they’re recommending a model and how it fits your home’s load and ductwork.
Tip: Require a Manual J load calculation summary and static pressure readings on your existing ducts. If they “size by square footage,” keep shopping.
5) Are your prices competitive—and is the scope crystal clear?
You want value, not vague line items. Ask for a written, apples-to-apples proposal with:
- Model numbers, efficiency ratings, and thermostat options
- What’s included: pad/stand, venting, gas/electrical, condensate, code upgrades
- Permits, HERS/Title 24 testing, and final inspection scheduling
- Commissioning checklist (temperature rise, static pressure, refrigerant charge, CO testing)
- Warranty terms (manufacturer parts + installer labor)
- Financing options and any rebates noted up front
